ABIDJAN - The first foundation stone of FIBA Africa's headquarters in Abidjan will be laid in September, the governing body of African basketball and the Ministry of Sports of Cote d’Ivoire confirmed on Monday.

The announcement was made during a visit of FIBA Africa's President and FIBA Vice-President Hamane Niang to the Government office.

"The purpose of this visit is to express to the Minister and the Ivorian Government our wish of laying the first foundation stone of the headquarters of FIBA regional office in Abidjan," Niang said.

The new facility will be built on a 4,000 square metre plot of land, with construction due to be completed at the end of 2017.
