MIES (2015 FIBA Hall of Fame) - On Friday 17 July, FIBA announced the 2015 Class of Inductees of the FIBA Hall of Fame. In the lead-up to the Induction Ceremony taking place on 19 September in Lille, France, we profile the inductees.

Revered journalist Noah Klieger will be inducted as a contributor who possesses one of the richest and most varied bodies of work when it comes to supporting the sport.

Anyone who has attended major basketball tournaments through the years is likely to have been in the same venue as Klieger, whose record of attendance at these various showpiece events is legendary.

He has amassed a staggering 30 European Championship tournaments, 11 World Championship appearances and a mesmerising eight Olympic Games. He covered every single one as a journalist at the European level, 10 at World level and five of the various Olympic Games which he has frequented.

It was not surprising that Klieger became Chairman of FIBA's media council for over 25 years, also visiting the FIBA World Congress regularly and undertaking a role as a Media Advisor to FIBA's Secretary General, FIBA Europe's Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) members.

In fact, Klieger has been involved in countless activities - basketball being chief among them - since 1951.

As well as covering basketball, he has also been a long-serving football correspondent in Israel for 'L’Equipe' and 'France Football'.

Viewed as an outstanding activist with the Basketball Commission of AIPS (Association Internationale De La Presse Sportive), he was the President of the organisation for 25 years.

An author as well as a journalist, Klieger has not only excelled in the written word, but served various high-profile administration roles within basketball and is very well known for his tenure at the world famous Maccabi Tel-Aviv, where he was at the helm as Chairman from 1951 to 1969.

He also headed up the Maccabi Ramat-Gan Omni-Sport club between 1970 and 1998 and was a member of the Maccabi World Union Executive for 14 years.

Additionally, Klieger took up a variety of different roles across three decades with the Israeli Basketball Association, serving time as a Board member of both the Executive and of the Technical Commission.

Multi-talented, he has harvested a string of individual accolades during his career, including the Award for Outstanding and Long-time Sport Activities in Israel (2008) and being inducted into the Jewish Hall of Fame (1990).

His writing has resulted in him receiving the prestigious 'L'oeuvre d'une Vie' from the Journalist's Union, while he received an Honorary Medal from the City of Strasbourg and perhaps most impressive of all, the title of 'Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur' from former French President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2013.

An Honorary Member of FIBA [Europe] and already possessing the FIBA Order of Merit (2010), Klieger will now have the honour of being inducted as one of the 2015 Class of the FIBA Hall of Fame.
