ZARAGOZA (2016 FIBA U17 World Championship) - Less than a day after shedding tears of disappointment, Bosnia and Herzegovina star Dzanan Musa grabbed a bit of consolation by breaking the FIBA U17 World Championship scoring record with 50 points in the Classification 9-16 game against Chinese Taipei.

Musa and his teammates cried at length following Bosnia's Round of 16 loss to Australia, which sent them to the classification bracket. Musa unleashed his disappointment on the Asians as he scored 50 points in 27:15 minutes. He made 18-of-26 shots from the field, went 11-of-15 from the free-throw line, grabbed 7 rebounds, handed out 4 assists and drew 12 fouls. 

"That failure was just more motivation to go harder and work harder for today's game," Musa said. "I set my goal for 50 points and I made that and I'm happy about that. They said before the game that we didn't have motivation because we lost. For me, every practice and game I have to give myself motivation to accomplish what I came for in this tournament."

The record eclipsed the previous mark of 41 which was held by two players. Australian Isaac Humphries set the record originally at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship against Canada and France's Jaylen Hoard matched it in the first game of this year's tournament against Korea.

When asked if the record means anything, Musa answered: "It means something because we are on the best way to finish ninth."

Bosnia and Herzegovina will take on the Dominican Republic in the Classification 9-12.
