So far, so good for Gobert and France

RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - Rudy Gobert and France had a nightmare start to the Olympics with a heavy defeat to Australia but since that time, Les Bleus have reeled off three straight wins.

They have knocked off China, Serbia and it was Venezuela's turn on Friday night.

Gobert, the huge talent and NBA player with the Utah Jazz, spoke to FIBA.com immediately after their latest win.

FIBA.com: How is this going for you and France?
Gobert: We're where we wanted to be, the Quarter-Finals. One more game against the U.S. And then the real tournament starts.

FIBA.com: How difficult was it for you to join this team after the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament and to find your rhythm?
I know those guys (the French team) so it wasn't that difficult. It was just getting back playing. I hadn't played for about four months, so just getting back to playing, getting used to it. I'm feeling great physically. Just got to be ready to win.

FIBA.com: It looks like you have as good a chance as any team here to get to the podium and maybe challenge for something special.
Gobert: That's why we're here. We're not here just to be there. We're here to get the best medal. We know it's not going to be easy and we know it's one game at a time.

FIBA.com: Do you draw encouragement seeing Australia and Serbia playing so well against the USA?
Gobert: Those two teams are very good teams and the US is a very good team. We'll see when the Quarter-Finals start. It's never the same.

Is this Olympic experience overall what you expected and are you enjoying it?
Gobert: It's exciting to see all the athletes and all the people from other countries. It's a great experience. It's more fun when you win. It's better when you win.
