MIES (EuroBasket 2015/EuroBasket Women 2015) - FIBA announced it is awarding the exclusive broadcasting rights for EuroBasket 2015 Men and Women in Italy to Sky Italia.

The addition of those two events perfectly complements Sky’s NBA and Euroleague seasonal coverage and their extensive planned EuroBasket coverage will give basketball fans throughout Italy the chance to see the very best of international basketball.

FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann said: "We are delighted to welcome Sky Italia as our partner in such an important basketball country as Italy. EuroBasket and EuroBasket Women are the premier events in the European basketball calendar next year and FIBA is convinced that Sky, as a premier sports broadcaster, will promote and showcase the event in a first class way."

Sky Italia Sport Rights, Programming and Production Director Matteo Mammi said: "We are thrilled to add EuroBasket to our portfolio of premium properties and offer our subscribers an in-depth coverage of Italy's men's and women's national teams.

"Our offer has never been so wide in terms of sport disciplines. Basketball is already a core sport for our channels and no other team can generate more interest around the country than our national teams. Our unrivalled editorial and production teams will deliver an outstanding multiplatform event. We are very committed and look forward to creating a very strong editorial offering around these events in 2015."

EuroBasket 2015 will take place in France, Germany, Croatia and Latvia from 5 to 20 September. The Final Phase will be played in the multifunctional Lille Arena, which will have a 27,000 capacity. The draw for the tournament will be held on 8 December 2014 in Disneyland Paris.
