FIBA wins TV Sports Award for innovative FIBA Media partnership with Perform

MONACO - FIBA won the "Best TV Rights Deal" award at Monday's 2nd annual TV Sports Awards (TVSA) at the Fairmount-Monte Carlo, in recognition of its ground-breaking strategic partnership with leading digital sports content and media group Perform.

The awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the sports media industry across different categories. FIBA was one of three nominees in contention to scoop the Best TV Rights Deal.

For the period of four FIBA Basketball World Cup cycles (2017-2033), Perform was confirmed as FIBA's worldwide partner for the distribution and sale of all media-related rights, with respect to FIBA national men’s and women's team competitions.

The strategic partnership will see Perform covering more than 5,000 live games including qualifiers and major championships - such as the FIBA Basketball World Cup and FIBA EuroBasket - over the term of the agreement, with more than 1,500 live games in the first cycle (2017-2021).

One of the main aspects of the partnership is the creation of FIBA Media, an integrated and joint partnership between the two organisations, committed to increasing the value of the basketball fan experience. FIBA Media will also deliver maximum exposure, on multiple platforms, providing fans with unprecedented access to content.

Monday night's event, supported by SPORTELMonaco, featured an array of sporting legends and high-profile guests from the world of sport, media and entertainment. A live auction took place with all proceeds from the evening to be donated to Play for Change, a sport and education charity for vulnerable children.

The nominees were shortlisted by an independent committee formed of representatives from influential and well-respected sports media partners, including iSportconnect, Sportcal, SportsPro, TV Sports Markets and SportBusiness International.
