MEDAN (2015 FIBA Asia U16 Women’s Championship) - India coach Madhukar Chavan is not too happy with the lack of time he had to prepare his team for the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship for Women.

“I had only 40 days to prepare my team; it’s not enough to prepare for such an event.

“During this time we managed to invite 80 girls from across India to participate in the selection trials, of which we selected 12,” he added.

The 49-year-old saw his team lose both the games so far in this competition, but he believes that losing is learning and that what matters is the experience gained to be used for future.

“Don’t forget that all the girls participating in this tournament have no international experience or exposure, winning or losing is not the issue here for me, but learning and gaining experience is what matters.”

The 49-year-old is realistic and admits that remaining in Level I should be India's target.

“As you know we finished 5th in the 2013 edition in Sri Lanka which enabled us to be in Level I for this event. We want to preserve our status in Level I, we came to Medan for that purpose because realistically speaking; we can’t compete with the top three or four teams.

India and Thailand go head to head on Wednesday in what is a crucial decider on which Level II teams they might face in the playoffs.
