Canadian broadcaster TSN to showcase Team Canada's Road to Rio 2016

TORONTO/MIES - The Sports Network (TSN) has signed a partnership agreement with Canada Basketball and FIBA to deliver comprehensive coverage of Canada's men's and women's team as they embark on the Road to Rio 2016.

As part of the deal, Reseau des sports (RDS) acquires French-language broadcast rights to FIBA events.

"This is an exciting partnership that speaks volumes to the rise of basketball in Canada," said Michele O'Keefe, President & CEO of Canada Basketball. "We thank TSN for their support of the game and providing Canadians the opportunity to tune in and support our teams as they represent the country on the world stage."

Under the agreement, TSN will offer viewers coverage of the qualifying events for the 2016 Games, including:
- 2015 FIBA Americas Women's Championship in Edmonton, Canada (9-16 August)
- 2015 FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City, Mexico (31 August-12 September)
- 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament (13-19 June 2016)
- 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (4-10 July 2016)

These events will see Canada's strongest ever assembled basketball teams.

TSN will also provide coverage of the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship taking place in Heraklion (Crete), Greece from 27 June-5 July. Canada head into the tournament with five players returning from the team which finished second at the 2014 FIBA U18 Americas Championship, its best result ever.
