PR N°21 - Innovative digital campaign launched to find the Most Valuable Fan for Spain 2014

MIES, Switzerland (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Who will be the Most Valuable Fan (MVF) of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup? A unique digital promotional campaign was launched on Wednesday to identify this fan and reward him/her with the experience of a lifetime.

By taking part in MVF and playing games on fiba.com/spain2014/mvf and facebook.com/FIBA, participants can win great prizes and be in the running to land the ultimate reward: an all-expenses paid trip for two to Madrid to watch the Final at Spain 2014 from a special MVF courtside seat and taking home an MVF trophy.

The concept of MVF is directly inspired from that of MVP (Most Valuable Player), the ultimate honour given to the best player in a basketball competition.

Through MVF, FIBA is using the full spectrum of digital and social media to maximise the awareness of its flagship event prior to it tipping off. This ultimate and innovative digital experience will provide basketball fans from around the world with a platform on which they can express their passion for their national team and where they can make history while competing against other fans. FIBA is committed to developing state-of-the-art entertainment campaigns where fans are at the heart of all activities.

Registering to MVF is very easy: participants can log in directly with Facebook Connect or create a personal account. In order to start playing, they must choose one of the 24 national teams playing in FIBA's flagship event to cheer on. Once that is done, they can start playing to collect MVF points, climb up the global MVF ranking and compete to take home cool prizes on a regular basis.

Fans will get to take part in a number of MVF Challenges and use a broad range of social actions (for example by associating their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts, using the hashtag #Spain2014...etc) to accumulate their MVF points. This all adds up in the overall point ranking and whoever is at the top of the MVF ranking on Thursday 14 August – exactly one month before the Final of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup – will win the ultimate MVF Award.

All points earned by fans that support the same national team will be accumulated to determine the MVF Best Country Award. This battle to find the nation with the best fans will go on until the end of the Preliminary Round of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup (Thursday 4 September). The greatest #Spain2014 fans will be honoured during the Final and will receive an official acknowledgement in FIBA’s Hall of Fame.
