Teams adding muscle before start of Round of 16

MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) - Multiple teams strengthened their FIBA Europe Cup rosters ahead of the start of the Round of 16 battles, with the likes of Telekom Baskets, Enisey Krasnoyarsk and Muratbey Usak Sportif registering new players.

Bonn coach Predrag Krunic has finally managed to find at least a partial shelter from the injury bug by bringing in combo guard Jamarr Sanders to form a backcourt partnership with Josh Mayo.

"I am convinced that Jamarr is a player with quality and experience, but above all, he's a team player who will help us to reach our sporting season goals," said Krunic of the addition.

However, Telekom Baskets will still not be at full strength in their Round of 16 clash against Kataja Basket, with Filip Barovic falling out of rotation with a broken thumb recently and Konstantin Klein still recovering from a long-term injury.

Elsewhere, Enisey and Usak finally signed up Anthony Hilliard and Ekene Ibekwe to their respective rosters for international play just now, although both players made their domestic championship debuts already some time ago.

The 30-year-old Hilliard, who was a much-needed addition to Enisey's backcourt, has already played five games for Krasnoyarsk in the VTB League, providing solid contributions of 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Basketball Champions League side will get an extra boost closer to the basket for the FIBA Europe Cup Play-Offs in the shape of 31-year-old center Ibekwe, who started the season with Fraport Skyliners.

The big man played four games in the Turkish BSL league for Usak Sportif, scoring 7.0 points, grabbing 5.2 rebounds and blocking 0.7 shots per game.

Enisey will face Demir Insaat in the first round of the FIBA Europe Cup knock-out stages, while Usak have been drawn against fellow Basketball Champions League side CSM CSU Oradea.
