Olympiacos looking to make big EuroCup Women play

ATHENS (EuroCup Women 2017) – After a hiatus of several years, Greek basketball will once again be represented in EuroCup Women and Olympiacos are looking like they will be able to make a firm push for honours.

The Athens-based powerhouse have turned to a pair of Greek legends to help oversee their initiation to the competition, with Evanthia Maltsi and Styliani Kaltsidou on a roster which is beginning to show some real sparkle and quality.

The pair have vast experience in European competitions and also in major tournaments with the Greece national team and that will serve Olympiacos well as they dip their toes into the EuroCup Women waters.

Back in 2010, Sony Athinaikos rode their way all the way to the top of the podium and while a repeat of such a glorious high may look to be in the realms of fantasy by some – take note that Olympiacos have also made a marquee signing with Lynetta Kizer.

She was dominant in EuroLeague Women at Galatasaray, has WNBA-level quality and the naturalised Bosnia and Herzegovina center is guaranteed to give the Greek champions a cutting edge in the paint.

Olympiacos have also acquired the underrated Milica Jovanovic of Montenegro and are slowly but surely compiling a roster which is transforming them from underdogs into a team which looks like it might just be capable of pushing Aluinvent Miskolc and Good Angels Kosice for top spot in Group D.
