EuroCup Women Final first leg: Social media spotlight and reaction

KAYSERI (EuroCup Women) - We check in with those involved in the first leg of the Final and take a look at how the action went down on social media.

It was an exciting opening matchup in Kayseri as Yakin Dogu Universitesi controlled most of the game and had held a 13-point lead. But, they were almost reeled back in by Bellona Agu who cut the gap at 73-69.

Much of that recovery operation was due to a brilliant seven-of-seven from the floor from Croatian center Mirna Mazic.

She said: "Congratulations to Yakin Dogu as they played a really good game.

"I think the key was that they had more rebounds than us - including 13 offensive rebounds.

"And, from the turnovers we had, they translated that to points in the open court which is really easy.

"Their two players [Courtney] Vandersloot and [Kayla] McBride were great, but I think we should have done a better job stopping them.

"We played really badly in offense, but this is just the first half [of the tie] and I am sure we will play much better in Istanbul.

"I also want to thank all the fans for coming and supporting us. They should not lose hope as we will try to bring back the Cup to Kayseri."

From a Yakin Dogu Universitesi perspective, Courtney Vandersloot was the star of the show and she stated: "We are glad to get the victory and we played a really good game.

"We were better at rebounds and three-point shots. We were also very concentrated and happy to take the win."

Meanwhile Yakin Dogu playcaller, Zafer Kalaycioglu paid tribute to the huge attendance that came out to support his opponents.

He said: "We have not played before in front of a crowd with this number of spectators (6,500).

"I want to thank the fans in Kayseri as they showed everyone how important women's basketball is."
