Quarter-Finals Preview: Can Belgium continue their winning run? Will Greece produce another upset?

PRAGUE (FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017) - After a stunning set of matches in the Qualification For Quarter-Finals stage, four intriguing Quarter-Finals await the fans in Prague, with direct qualification for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup also on offer for the winners.

Belgium will be hoping that their impressive start to the tournament isn't for nought - their post duo of Emma Meesseman and Ann Wauters are combining for 34 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks per game thus far, and Kim Mestdagh is providing a great scoring option from the wing.

They will need to slow down Italy's young gun Cecilia Zandalasini, who is averaging close to a double-double with 18 points per game, although the Italians are hurt by the loss of Laura Macchi, who sustained a brutal fractured jaw in their second game.

Turkey will be reliant on Quanitra Hollingsworth in their matchup against Greece, with the naturalized center coming up huge in their biggest game so far, racking up 29 points and 21 boards in the win over Italy.

Point guard Isil Alben will need to run the offense well too, wary of the effective job Greece's defense did on Maria Vadeeva and Russia to reach this stage. Greece have been full of heart and effort thus far, with veterans Evanthia Maltsi and Styliani Kaltsidou taking the bulk of the scoring load.

The depth of the Spanish squad will put Latvia to the test, with Sancho Lyttle inside and Alba Torrens on the wing among the competition's brightest stars. This will be a meeting between EuroLeague Women-winning head coach Lucas Mondelo and one of his assistants at Dynamo Kursk last season, Martins Zibarts, which should add a little extra spice to the showdown.

Anete Steinberga has been stellar so far for Latvia, but there are injury concerns over their main playmaker Elina Babkina, who pulled out of the victory over Serbia within the opening two minutes.

France's meeting with Slovak Republic rounds out the day's action. France's depth is evidenced by Endy Miyem being the sole member of the team averaging double-digits scoring and more than 25 minutes per game. Helena Ciak gives every team something to consider inside, and their dynamic backcourt provides a considerable threat outside.

But they will be wary of Slovak Republic's weapons, which were on full display in their stunning victory over Ukraine. Zuzana Zirkova rolled back the years to pour in 31 points, while Barbora Balintova has impressed at the point and Marie Ruzickova is averaging a double-double inside.

The top five teams will join hosts Spain at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in 2018, so the four Quarter-Final winners will seal their places, with the defeated teams still having something to play for in classification action at the weekend.
