Colombia with 16-man squad for AmeriCup

BOGOTA (FIBA AmeriCup 2017) - The players of joint hosts Colombia have joined coach Guillermo Moreno and begun getting ready for the FIBA AmeriCup.

Edgar Alonso Moreno Asprilla, Jhon Jairo Hernandez and Rodrigo Caicedo, members of the Cimarrones side that just captured the Colombian domestic crown, are among the 16 players in the squad.

There is also a healthy contingent of players who compete in American college basketball, including Florida State's Braian Angola Rodas, Texas A&M's Tonny Trocha-Morelos and East Tennessee State's Hanner Mosquera-Perea.

Colombia will play in a four nations tournament in Salta, Argentina, from August 18-22 with Brazil, Uruguay and the Argentinians.

At the AmeriCup, Colombia are hosting Group A and will face Brazil, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The best team from each of the three groups will advance to the Final Phase, along with Group B hosts Argentina, who will automatically qualify because of their status as the main organizer of the competition. The Final Phase will be played in Cordoba (Argentina).
