PR N°32 - Tickets on sale for 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women

MIES, Switzerland/ISTANBUL, Turkey (2014 FIBA World Championship for Women) – Tickets for the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women are on sale and can be purchased on www.biletix.com, the official ticketing partner of the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) for one of FIBA's flagship event.

Games of the Group Phase and Qualifications for Quarter-Finals will be played in Ankara and Istanbul from Saturday 27 September to Wednesday 1 October. The Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals (Third-Place Game and Final) will then take place in Istanbul from Friday 3 October to Sunday 5 October.

The ticket prices have been determined with a view to make effective use of the Championship as a platform to "increase the impact of basketball in empowering young girls and women" and to attract a maximum number of spectators to the games.

Families (with children), students, schools and corporations that support the personal development and education of children - in particular girls - have been the main targets in mind while setting the prices at fairly affordable levels.

Here are the ticket options:
- Full Fare Ticket: this ticket grants its holder access to two games and ranges in price from 10 to 35 Turkish Lira (€4 to €14) for the Group Phase and for the Qualifications for Quarter-Finals games. For the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals, the Full Fare Ticket will range in price from 20 to 100 Turkish Lira (€8 to €40).
- Discount Ticket: this ticket is available for both students (provided they can show a student ID) and people over the age of 60 (provided they can show their ID), granting its holder access to two games. The prices range from 5 to 30 Turkish Lira (€2 to €12) for the Group Phase and the Qualifications for Quarter-Finals, and from 10 to 90 Turkish Lira (€4 to €36) for the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals.
- 4 Persons Group Ticket: this ticket is designed for groups of four people, particularly families looking forward to enjoying the games with their kids. It delivers advantageous savings, with a relatively affordable price even when compared to the Discount Ticket. The particular ticket grants its four holders access to two games and ranges in price from 30 to 110 Turkish Lira (€12 to €44) for the Group Phase and for the Qualifications for Quarter-Finals games. For the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals, the 4 Persons Group Ticket will range in price from 60 to 300 Turkish Lira (€24 to €120).
- Full Pass Ticket: this ticket is made available to everyone (individuals; students and people over the age of 60 who qualify for discounts; groups of four people) and grants its holder access to all of the games of the Group Phase, the Qualifications for Quarter-Finals in either Ankara or Istanbul with prices ranging from 30 to 540 Turkish Lira (€12 to €216). This type of ticket is also available for the Final Phase in Istanbul, ranging in price from 80 to 1,020 Turkish Lira (€32 to €408) and granting access to all games of the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals.

"Our strategy in offering these friendly prices is to allow fair access to as many people as possible for all the games starting from the Group Phase to the Final Phase," said TBF Marketing and Communications Director Tugan Gokce Ogun.

"This, in turn, will help us generate the best possible attendance figures as well as increase the impact of basketball to empower young girls and women."

The thinking behind the pricing of tickets is in line with PASS IT ON (http://passiton.tbf.org.tr/), the TBF's social responsibility and legacy programme tied into the tournament which will ensure the impact of the event goes on long after the medal ceremony is over.

PASS IT ON focuses on encouraging more girls to take up basketball and educate families about the benefits of playing the sport. TBF will actively reach out to young girls and boys in Turkey and abroad to inspire them to lead positive and successful lives.

The centrepiece of the PASS IT ON campaign will be Camp PASS IT ON, taking place in Istanbul from 11 to 17 August. It will be a social and cultural basketball project bringing together young people from Turkey and all around the world. The multi-national and multi-cultural camp will host tournaments, basketball clinics, teamwork exercises and social activities led by experienced coaches from Turkey and abroad.

FIBA and the TBF have past experience of teaming up for impactful social responsibility and legacy programme. In 2010, when the FIBA World Championship (now the FIBA Basketball World Cup) took place in Turkey, the TBF hosted the Children of the World Camp, where hundreds of children and their coaches from around the world spent one week playing basketball and learning about team work, respect and cultural understanding.
