KOR - Satisfaction in Seoul after draw

SEOUL (FIBA World Championship for Women) - Korean Basketball Federation President Yul Pang has expressed his satisfaction with the draw for the FIBA World Championship for Women, even if he isn't quite sure which players will be donning a national team vest in Istanbul.

The Koreans have to make some difficult choices around personnel for their Turkish mission, since the event is taking place at the same time as the Asian Games which Korea are hosting in Incheon.

"Yes, it has still not yet been fully decided who goes to Istanbul and who goes to Incheon," confirmed the Federation President, who attended the recent draw ceremony and witnessed his country being thrown up against Australia, Belarus and Cuba.

"We are quite satisfied and it is an acceptable draw for us.

"But at the same time, it won't easy to compete with the other teams in the group.

"They are all strong and they are good teams from each of their respective zones."

The national federation are continuing to draw up plans to make a positive challenge at both tournaments and much more is likely to be revealed after the domestic club schedule draws to a close.

The WKBL Finals are about to swing into action, with Woori Bank Hansae and Shinhan Bank S-Birds ready to embark on the season finale in a best of five series.

American Shekinna Stricklen exploded for 37 points as the S-Birds claimed a semi-final series win against KB Stars. National team standout Danbi Kim added 17 points in the 87-80 clincher.

Meanwhile, Woori Bank Hansae - built around Korean stars such as Hyejin Park, Yung Hui Lim and Young Suk Kang - won the regular season title to make the Finals with a 25-10 record.
