FIBA - International coaches clinic to be staged in Pilsen during FIBA U17 WC Women

PILSEN (FIBA U17 World Championship for Women) - A centrepiece of the upcoming FIBA U17 World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic will be an international coaching clinic facilitated by some of the biggest names in the women's game.

The two-day event (Saturday-Sunday 5-6 July) which will take place at the City Arena in Pilsen, one of the two host cities for the tournament, will see an array of guests lead a variety of coaching sessions.  For further information on the event and how to register click here and here for accommodation details. Natalia Hejkova is one of the most experienced play-callers in European basketball, having landed the EuroLeague Women title at club level as well as delivering success on the world stage by guiding Russia to a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Last season, Hejkova was at the helm of ZVVZ USK Prague who secured a historic first place at the EuroLeague Women Final Eight and not only achieved a domestic clean sweep of honours, but did so without losing a single game all year.

Ekrem Memnun is the reigning EuroLeague Women champion coach having taken Galatasaray odeabank to their maiden title earlier this year.

He masterminded an upset of hosts and overwhelming favourites UMMC Ekaterinburg in the semi-finals, prior to beating fellow Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce in the final.

He then returned home to Istanbul lead his club to their most successful season ever, by beating their arch rivals to the Turkish Championship - their first in more than a decade.

Michal Jezdik has a wealth of experience having once held the reins of the Czech Republic men's senior national team, as well as the U20 side.

He knows what it is like to lift numerous Czech club titles, is a certified lecturer of the Czech Olympic Committee and Sports Director of CEZ Basketball Nymburk.

Jill Schneider is a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and draws upon some 14 seasons as head coach of Monterey High School.

She is also still the reigning FIBA U17 World Championship for Women head coach, having led USA to the gold medal two years ago in Amsterdam.

Finally, Marian Svoboda can boast a FIBA U19 World Championship for Women title won in 2001 on home soil, along with an U20 European Championship Women triumph a year later.

Both titles were won coaching teams that included some of the current Czech Republic standouts due to head to Turkey for the FIBA World Championship for Women, including the legendary Eva Viteckova and Jana Vesela.

The clinic will take place prior to the Semi-Finals and Final of the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, which will showcase some of the best young players from around the globe and many of the future stars of the women's game.
