Taipei rally in second half to nose out DPR Korea in thriller

BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017) - Chinese Taipei looked to be on the ropes in the first half, but a strong second half surge had them nose out DPR Korea on Day 1 at the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017.

Chinese Taipei held on to a precarious 2-point lead with only 49 seconds remaining when DPR Korea star player Ro Suk Yong's layup tied the count at 76-all.

In the following possession, Chinese Taipei's Wu Ying-Chieh missed a jumper, but frontliner Huang Ping-Jen gathered a crucial offensive rebound and was fouled. She hit just 1 of 2 free throws, but that was enough as Taipei pulled off the thrilling come-from-behind win.

Bao Hsi-Le paced the victors with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block, while Ro led DPR Korea with 36 points.

Chinese Taipei zoom to the top of Group A with this win, while DPR Korea will hope to bounce back against New Zealand tomorrow.
