Taipei need to focus on defense according to Bao Hsi-Le

BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017) - Chinese Taipei may have won a nail-biter last night against DPR Korea, but center Bao Hsi-Le knows they need to do a better job on defense in future matches.

Taipei narrowly defeated DPR Korea last night, 77-76, in a game where the favored Taipei quintet were expected to play with more intensity and urgency. Bao finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for her team, but that game was reality check for them. Bao knows the kind of defensive effort they had against DPR Korea just won't cut it against the stronger teams in the field.

She talked about this after the game with FIBA.com

This was a tough game for you. What do you think of the win and the DPR Korea team?
This is the first time we have played them, and we had no film or scouting about them. They came out ready to play. They are very tough and are very well coached. I am quite happy to get away with the win.

You started slow and your team made its comeback when your coach played 5 shorter players. What was your gameplan?
It is all about defense. They have a couple of players who can really score and we had to lock them down. We had to play good team defense, which we struggled with in the first half and will need in our next games.

One of the DPR Korea players had 38 points and was scoring at will. Do you think it will be easier if you meet them another time?
#12 and #8 they both shot so well for their team, but now we know that if we face them again in the future. This means next time it could possibly be easier.
