BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017) - Evelyn Mawuli may not be a household name in Japanese basketball, but she sure made quite the impression in their emphatic opening day win over Philippines.

The 1.80m forward who plays for the Toyota Antelopes recorded 21 points on 7-of-13 field goal shooting, including nailing 3 triples, as Japan outclassed Perlas Pilipinas.

All this she did coming off the bench, playing 27 minutes as the leader of coach Tom Hovasse's second unit. Mawuli also added 2 rebounds and 2 assists to her already sublime stat-line.
