Australia neutralize Korea to make history at Women's Asia Cup

BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017) - Australia repeated over Korea, 57-41, in their Semi-Finals matchup to make history as the first non-East-Asia team to barge into the Women's Asia Cup Final.

Kelsey Griffin rose to the challenge for the Opals, scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds as they notched their fifth win in a row. She received great support from rising star Alanna Smith, who tossed in 12 points of her own.

Korea kept things close in the first quarter, but the Opals turned up the heat in the second period, outscoring the East Asia side, 23-13, to put significant separation between the two teams.

Kang LeeSul and Sim SungYoung led Korea with 14 points each, while Park JiSu struggled, shooting only 1-of-8 from the field to finish with just 4 points.

The Aussies will face the winner of the other Semi-Final between China and Japan for the Women's Asia Cup 2017 crown.
