Nigeria new head coach Vincent names preliminary squad for FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 training camp

ABUJA (FIBA AfroBasket Women 2017) -  In his return at the helm of Nigeria women's team, Sam Vincent has named 29 players for the FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 training camp.

The American, who coached the former African champions at the 2004 Athens Olympics, is currently hosting a training camp with 14 USA-based Nigerian players in Florida while his assistant Peter Ahmedu is working with 15 players in Lagos, Nigeria as this video shows.

Some of those players are expected to resume preparations on August 4 in Lagos under the watchful of Vincent, who replaced Scott Nnaji in charge of the D'Tigresses.

Among the new faces in Vincent's list is Evelyn Akhator, who was selected the third overall pick in last April's WNBA Draft.

Aside Akhator, Vincent kept all but three players who helped Nigeria claim a Third-Place at FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2015.
