Covilha back at the helm of Angola for FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017

LUANDA (FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017) - Jaime Covilha will be in charge of Angola at FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017, the Angolan Basketball Federation (CAB) confirmed on Monday.

Regarded as one of the most qualified local coaches - Covilha, who is currently in charge of Primeiro D'Agosto's women's team - made headlines when he replaced Frenchman Michel Gomez midway through the FIBA AfroBasket 2011 and helped the country's men's team finish second.

It will be Covilha's second spell at the helm of the two-time African champions, after helping the Angolans come in fourth at FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2015.

FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 will take place in Bamako, Mali, from August 18-27. Angola have been drawn in Group A alongside Cameroon, hosts Mali, Tunisia, Cote d'Ivoire and a team to be determined via a wildcard process.
