Tare has played more than 100 games for her country (120 at the end of April 2007). Since the early nineties, she has been irreplaceable for the National Team. Tare grew up in Jurmala Basketball Club which was, at the time, coached by the current National Team coach Ainars Zvirgzdins. Equally good on offence and defence, Tare can be a good shooter and play tough defence against the opponents’ leaders. In the autumn of 2006, she became a mother, but at the end of the 2006-07 season, the 33-year-old came back to the court. At the EuroBasket Women last year, Tare was the team’s “sixth player” and averaged 6.1 points per game. Her last club season was, as usual, productive: 7.3 points per game in the EuroLeague and 14.7 ppg in the Latvian League. This earned her the title as MVP.
