Qualification system for participant teams
Zone's Qualification  (10 Teams)
Of the 10 participant teams, 8 qualified alter playing in the qualification tournaments from their respective Zones celebrated during 2006. Canada and USA automatically qualified as they are the sole representatives of the North America Zone.

From August 22 until September 2 2007
  • First Round - 2/8 al 26/8 (27.8. No games scheduled)
  • Second Round - 28/8 al 31/8
  • Semi-Finals - 1/9
  • Finals - 2/99
    Those teams finishing in the first and second position in the final position table wil automatically qualify to Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Tose teams in the third, fourth and fifth place will have another shot to qualify to Beijing 2008 in the World Pre-Olympic which will be taking place one month befote the Olympic Games.

Competition System
With the participation of ten (10) teams, and under FIBA's current Games Rules, this Championship will be played in three (3) rounds. If there is a tie for the same position during the First and Second Rounds, the respective system established by FIBA for that kind of situations will be also utilize. The teams will be divided in two (2) groups of five (5) teams each.
