RIGA (2011 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Serbia have ended the time of Australia in Latvia, sealing their quarterfinal meeting with a 17-0 run in the third quarter to become the third semifinalist.
 
Both teams were slow to get into their work with just five points being scored in the first five minutes - four of which went to Serbia. The undersized Australian side would continue to struggle for the remainder of the opening quarter against their taller opponents.
 
At the end of the opening ten minutes Serbia had worked their way out to a ten point lead. Australia were able to make some slight inroads in the second quarter but Serbia answered back immediately with Luka Mitrovic slamming it home twice before Djorje Drenovac also jumped in on the action, grabbing his team's third dunk in a matter of minutes. However, like any good Australian team, this one was not about to throw in the towel and would bring the deficit back to four by the half.
 
Serbia again attempted to break away at the beginning of the third quarter but Hugh Greenwood again pulled the margin back to four with five quick points midway through the quarter. Soon after however he would receive a technical foul, ending his team's momentum. Serbia pounced, going on a 17-0 scoring spree to put the game almost beyond doubt.
 
Australia continued to fight until the final seconds but it would prove to be in vein with Alexander Cvetkovic putting in another stellar performance at point guard to steer Serbia to the final buzzer.
 
Greenwood would go on to finish the night with a game high 25 points. However in nights previous when one player has consistently stepped up to get Australia past the mark, it could not work again here.
