Benzing arrived on the National Team scene in a big way at Eurobasket 2009 last year after being handed the responsibility of playing almost 20 minutes per game – despite having barely any professional experience in top flight basketball. The young talent responded with a great display and was one of the brightest spots for the German team in Poland. Consequently he is now likely to establish himself as a major component of the German side for years to come and they will reap the rewards of his skill-set. This includes his ball handling skills which are slightly better than to be expected while he also possesses a decent perimeter game and can knock down threes on a consistent basis. He continued his form of last summer into club level and finished the season in Ulm with over 12 points per game – a hugely impressive return for a rookie pro-season in a top league. He has probably moved ahead of the more experienced Konrad Wysocki in the pecking order and is definitely one to watch closely.
