An outstanding junior and FIBA U19 World Championship Gold medallist, Markovic has never been able to translate this form to senior basketball.

At the 2003 FIBA U19 World Championship, Markovic averaged 13ppg, 4rpg and 3apg as a starter, including 30 points on 4/7 three point shooting in the final against Lithuania.

Two years later he teamed with Brad Newley, Aleks Maric, Nathan Jawai and Damian Martin to lead the Bogut-less Australia to fourth place at the FIBA U21 World Championship, finishing as the second leading scorer with 13.4ppg.

A strong defender, ball handler and dependable three-point shooter, Markovic has gained valuable professional experience in Australia, Italy and Serbia, and is hoping to gain a place in the line-up for Turkey providing depth at both guard positions.
