Maric burst into world prominence last season with his dominating season for Partizan as the Serbian club took the Adriatic League and Serbian A League titles and progressed to the EuroLeague Final Four.

Maric averaged 15ppg and 8rpg in Europe’s top competition and was selected to the All Star Five in the process.

He turned heads with 34 points and 16 rebounds against Efes Pilsen, and 23 points and 15 rebounds against the might of Olympiakos in the regular season. 

Of course, Maric has long been known to fans ‘Down Under’, having been a part of the Gold medal winning Australian team at the 2003 FIBA U19 World Championship.

After coming off the bench behind Andrew Bogut in that tournament, Maric played a leading role at the 2005 FIBA U21 World Championship, averaging 11ppg and 9rpg, including 21 points and 8 rebounds against Slovenia.

While he is making his senior international debut in Turkey, Maric is expected to be a dominant force, and along with Matt Nielsen gives Australia one of the hardest working frontcourts in the tournament.

Maric recently signed with Panathinaikos in Greece.
