Coach Becirovic knows Rivzic well because he coached him last season in Mariupol and without Lorbek, Smodis and Nesterovic, the team needs some fresh bodies ready to fight in the paint.
It’s the third time Rivzic is on the initial National Team roster, after appearances in preliminary sqauds in 2006 and 2007 but so far, he has never been part of the final roster that played during the actual tournaments.
Rivzic is really tall but not very athletic - more of an old school center.
This season however, he’s had his best year ever, averaging 13.0 points per game and 6.9 rebounds for Mariupol in the Ukrainian league.
He was the fourth best shot blocker in the competition (1.7). He could be a precious strength coming off the bench.
