No coach knows his team better than Jan Bobrovsky, a veteran who’s been at the helm of the Czech Republic women’s national side for more than a decade.
Bobrovsky, who led the Czechs to silver and gold, respectively, at the EuroBaskets in 2003 and 2005, works with many of the same players as the coach Czech giants Gambrinus Brno, the club he has led for 15 years. Gambrinus won the 2006 EuroLeague Women and finished runners-up in both 2005 and 2008. The Gambrinus Brno connection is a big reason why the national team has extraordinary chemistry. Bobrovsky, an excellent player in his day who competed in two FIBA World Championships and one Olympics, has great respect in his homeland.
