Career: Fujitsu Red Wave (WJBL-1, 2001-08)
Ai Mitani joined the National Team in 2005 for the FIBA Asia Championship. A late bloomer, she is becoming a crucial player for the Japanese squad now. With balanced skills both on offence and defence and a player who does not commit many turnovers, she is one of the smartest players in coach Tohomide Utsumi’s squad. Adept at hitting shots from behind the arc, she also has good inside moves. Ai even has the ability to score against taller defenders in the low post. Her solid numbers at the FIBA Asia Championship included eight points and 6.4 rebounds per contest.
