Career: Pinar Del Rio (Cuba-D1, 2007-08).
Romero is the starting guard of the National Team and plays a fast and intelligent game. Zabala likes the 1.75m playmaker to push the ball up the floor as quickly as possible at every opportunity, something that was evident at the test event where she was able to compete against five point guards whose teams have already qualified for the Beijing Games. Romero's statistics are not always sparkling but in Cuba's narrow win over France at the 2006 FIBA World Championship she had a solid six-point, four assist, three-rebound performance. She is also important in the Cuban high-intensity defence, particularly when Zabala likes to apply full-court pressure.
