Voted the most valuable player at the 2005 and 2007 FIBA Americas Championship, Plutin is one of the focal points for Cuba on offence. The 1.87m star can play at power forward or center and adds real toughness to Zabala's defence. Plutin was outstanding in Chile lat year where she averaged 17.4 points and 6.6 rebounds to help her side win the silver medal. The experienced center has proved over the years she can come up with the goods when it matters. Plutin poured in 21 points in her team's 71-68 triumph against China to help Cuba finish 11th at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Brazil. Plutin, the most senior player in the team who turns 29 in July, said: "We have been working really hard and if we play well, we can return to Beijing."
