Career: SRE Ipiranga (Brazil, 1999-2000), Araba Gorago (Spain-EBA, 2000-01), Bilbao Basket (Spain-LEB2, 2001-03), Tau Vitoria (Spain-ACB, 2003-08).
Tiago Splitter has developed into one of the premier big men in international basketball in his five years at Spanish giants Tau Ceramica. Despite Luis Scola’s move to the Houston Rockets, Tau reached a fourth consecutive Euroleague Final Four in 2008 with Splitter averaging 14.0 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes, numbers that made him an All-Euroleague first-team selection. Drafted by San Antonio in 2007 with the 28th pick overall, Splitter could be ready to play in the NBA but then again, as his former teammate Scola knows only too well, it’s very difficult to break into the veteran Spurs squad. Extremely quick for his size, Splitter plays facing the basket, or with his back to the basket. A 65% shooter from the field in the Euroleague, Splitter is 23 but already the cornerstone of the Seleçao.
