Daniel Santiago is a native of the United States whose grandfather was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He attended the University of New Mexico for two years before transferring to St. Vincent College in the NAIA. In 1998, he won the Italian championship with Varese. He played in the Euroleague the following season, averaging 14.8 points and 8.2 rebounds. In 2001, he returned to America to play three games in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns. After one season at Roma in Italy’s Lega A, he spent two seasons in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks. Santiago, a part of the great Puerto Rican side at the Athens Olympics, has spent the last three seasons at Unicaja Malaga and played in the Euroleague. While at Malaga, he has overcome a serious eye injury.
