Career: Ottawa (Canada-CIS, 2002-03), Champville (Lebanon-Division A, 2003-04), Sporting Al Riyadi (Lebanon-Division A, 2004-08).
Canadian-born Ali Mahmoud, who studied at Ottawa University, began his professional basketball career in Lebanon in 2003 with Champville. He had a promising first season in the Lebanese top flight, averaging 3.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He then he joined Al Riyadi Beirut and has been with the club ever since. At Al Riyadi, Mahmoud has blossomed into one of the best point guards in the country. He is, above all, one of the top defenders in the country at his position. He helped his team capture the Lebanese league in each of his first three seasons. Since 2005, he has been a member of the Lebanon National Team and is likely to serve as the back-up to Rony Fahed this summer.
