Career: UCLA (USA-NCAA, 2005-08)

Alfred Aboya started his American adventure after the FIBA Africa Championship qualifying round in 2003. He spent one year at Tilton Prep before joining NCAA juggernauts UCLA, one of the country’s most famous college teams where fellow Cameroon star and good friend Luc Richard Mbah a Moute also plays. Aboya has gained confidence year after year. He started 17 games as a junior last season, though he was on the court for only six minutes and scored just two points in UCLA’s defeat at the 2008 NCAA Final Four to Memphis. Aboya will return to UCLA for his senior season. Absent from last year’s FIBA Africa Championship, in qualifying for the 2003 event, he showed his great promise by pouring in 8.2 points and grabbing 3.8 rebounds per game.
