Sofoklis Schortsianitis was a huge hit at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan following a very impressive campaign at Olympiacos under then coach Jonas Kazlauskas. In the time since, he has struggled to maintain his focus and battled weight issues. The mid-season appointment of National Team boss Panagiotis Yannakis at Olympiacos after the Reds’ sacking of Pini Gershon has fuelled hopes that Schortsianitis will rediscover the magic. Big Sofo agreed to attend a special center in Switzerland to lose weight and made his first steps back to basketball in the spring. `Baby Shaq’ is very strong, tall, heavy, but at the same time extremely explosive as a player and quick, with a variety of moves in the paint. At his best, Sofo can be the player to change the momentum of a game.
