Career: Coamo (Puerto-Rico-BSN, 2000-05), Southeastern Iowa (USA-NJCAA Div. 1, 2001-03), UTEP (USA-NCAA Div. 1, 2003-05), Artland (Germany-Bundesliga, 2005-07), Napoli (Italy-Lega, 2007), AEK Athens (Greece-ESAKE, 2007-08), Carolina (Puerto-Rico-BSN, 2008).
Filiberto Rivera started his career in Puerto Rico before playing junior college ball in America. He went to the University of Texas-El Paso where he averaged 13.5 points, 7.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds as a senior. Rivera spent two seasons with the Artland Dragons of Quakenbrück in Germany’s BBL. He played in the Bundesliga finals in 2007 and earned recognition as one of the best point guards in Germany. Last year, he played in a summer league with the Chicago Bulls but failed to make the team. At the beginning of this season, he joined Napoli in Italy’s Lega A but was released a few months later. After a short spell in Greece’s top flight with AEK Athens, he returned home to Puerto Rico and finished the season with Gigantes de Carolina.
