Career: Florida International (USA-NCAA Div. 1, 1997-2001), Santurce (Puerto-Rico-BSN, 1998-2003), Toronto Raptors (NBA, 2001-02), Vitoria (Spain-ACB, 2002), Denver Nuggets (NBA, 2002), Utah Jazz (NBA, 2002-05), Detroit Pistons (NBA, 2005-06), Orlando Magic (NBA, 2006-08).

Carlos Arroyo has been the hero of Puerto Rican basketball since the Athens Olympics when he led the National Team to a shocking 92-73 defeat of Team USA on the tournament’s opening day. He scored 24 points and handed out seven assists in the triumph. Arroyo has been arguably the most successful Puerto Rican ever to play in the NBA. He went undrafted after attending Florida International but was signed as a free agent by the Toronto Raptors. It wasn’t until 2002 that he started making waves, though, after signing with Utah. He became the starting point guard of the Jazz following the retirement of John Stockton. In 2005, he played with Detroit in their NBA finals defeat to San Antonio. Since 2006, he has played for the Orlando Magic as a reserve point guard.
