Lakovic was the main reason Slovenia were able to win against France and clinch seventh place at EuroBasket 2007, thus securing a berth the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He had 26 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the triumph. The Barcelona guard, who turns 20 this year, averaged 12.2 points in the ACB this season. Since scoring 38 points against Real Madrid on his Euroleague debut in 2001 with Krka Novo Mesta, Lakovic has been a key player on two of Europe’s major powerhouse, Panathinaikos and Barca. Now 29 years old, he is Barcelona’s go-to guy on offence and has become the new leader of the team. Lakovic has grown comfortable with his role and is enjoying life in the spotlight.
