International career: Head coach – Women Russian National Team (2005-08)

Grudin has been very successful since taking the reins of the Russian Women’s National Team in 2006. His most famous win was the upset of Team USA at the FIBA World Championship in Brazil, yet Russia followed that with a heavy defeat to Australia in the gold medal game.
At the EuroBasket Women the year before in Turkey, Russia were upset in the final by the Czech Republic. Last year, at long last, Grudin’s team held off Spain in a thrilling final to capture the European title in Chieti, Italy. Before establishing himself as one of the very best coaches in Russia, Grudin spent eight years on the bench in France. In Russia, he also coached many of the National Team players as the boss of CSKA Moscow but moved aside before the 2007-08 campaign and instead serves as CSKA’s sport director.
