Career: BAYI ARMY (China-WCBA, 1997-2008)

At first, Shao Tingting played power forward but there were so many talented players at that position at Bayi Rockets that she did not get enough opportunities. Following her coach’s advice, she started to play guard. She now pays more attention to defense and her three-point shooting ability has developed. Although Shao Tingting is only 1.74m in height, which makes her among the shortest players in the Rockets, she has wonderful speed, jumping ability, flexibility and sense, and she excels on the fast break and with her jump shooting. To strengthen his players, women’s coach Tom Maher got them to take part in a training project that included boxing once a week. Shao Tingting was apparently the best in the training.
