In some fans' eyes, Liu Dan should be the starting center in the Chinese Women's Basketball Team considering her potential. Some people even call her the "Female Yao Ming." Liu Dan has excellent physical condition, good sense and is considered a player that can create problems on the court for any of her team’s opponents in the WCBA. Her parents were both basketball players. In her childhood, Liu Dan was physically weak so her parents encouraged her to play basketball to improve her strength. "If we can win glory for the nation at home (at the Beijing Games, it would be really fantastic," she said.
