Ega was not a part of the Brazilian-based youth selection so did not join the senior team until late. Since playing very well at the 2002 FIBA World Championship in China, though, this versatile post player has been an essential part of the Seleçao. As a modern power forward, Ega is not just a player who operates down low. She has the ability to step out on the perimeter and bury three-pointers although at Mann Filter Zaragoza in Spain’s Liga Femenina this season, Ega was just 12 of 54 (22%) from behind the arc. One aspect of her game in which she has impressed has been with her passing game. She is no doubt a key player of the ‘Auriverde’.
