Powerful in the paint and a deft shooter outside it, Cox will provide an injection of offense off the bench and play her trademark tough defense. When asked what she wanted to bring to the team at the 2008 Beijing Basketball Test Event, Cox said: “I want to go to the basket, to use my athletic ability to get to the rack and score.” And she won’t have a hard time fitting in because Cox went to the Australian Institute of Sport. “Everyone knows each other from the Institute and we all play against each other in Australia so it’s a pretty tight-knit group,” Cox said. Last year at the FIBA Oceania Championship, Cox showed just how valuable she can be by averaging 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as the Opals qualified for Beijing.
