Career: Real Bamako (Mali, 2004-05), Djoliba AC (Mali, 2005-06), Southern Lady Rams (USA – AAU League Philadelphia, 2006-07), ES Cap Bon (Tunisie, 2007-08)
Meiya Tirera is a great prospect whose talent was expected to help Mali last summer but academic issues in America, where she had hoped to play Junior College ball at Okaloosa-Walton College in 2006, caused her to miss out. Tirera did remain in the United States and played in a local league in Philadelphia before returning to Africa and finding a club in Tunisia. Now that she is back in the National Team, the power forward should be a big asset, especially on defense. At the 2005 FIBA Africa Championship for Women, Tirera averaged 3.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
