Coming by her athletic talents naturally – her father was a pro soccer goalie in Argentina – Diana Taurasi has collected an impressive string of championships that’s topped by her 2004 Olympic gold medal. The two-time National Player of the Year while leading the University of Connecticut to an impressive 139-8 record and three NCAA crowns, Taurasi also owns gold medals from the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship and 2000 Junior World Championship Qualifying Tournament, a silver from the 2007 FIBA World League Tournament and bronze medals from the 2006 FIBA World Championship and 2001 FIBA Junior World Championship. Along they was she was honored as the 2006 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year, awarded the 3-point trophy at the 2006 World Championship, named to the five-member 2001 FIBA All-Junior World Championship Team, and was the July 2001 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Month. A member of the 2007 WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury, Taurasi is a four-time All-WNBA selection, competed in three WNBA All-Star Games and listed as the 2004 Rookie of the Year. Having completed in 2008 her third season playing in Russia, Taurasi was in the 2006 EuroLeague All-Star Game and helped Spartak Moscow Region capture EuroLeague and Russia Super League titles in 2007 and 2008.
