Career: .Edison High School, Gulliver Prep, Louisiana State University 2004 – 2008 (USA-NCAA).

A relative newcomer on the senior level international arena, Sylvia Fowles had a huge coming out party at the 2008 Good Luck Beijing Tournament. Playing alongside one of her all-time favorite players, three-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Leslie, Fowles dominated opponents. She finished as the tournament’s leading scorer (17.0 ppg.) and second leading rebounder (10.5 rpg.), while also leading the six-team field in field goal percentage (.629) and blocked shots (2.5 bpg.) as the United States returned with the silver medal. Fowles, who helped Louisiana State University advance to the NCAA Final Four in each of her four seasons, had been a member of the USA National Team since 2006 when the U.S. captured the Opals World Challenge gold medal and prior to that she debuted internationally by winning a gold medal at the 2005 World University Games.
